About Us
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)—also known as physiatry—is a medical specialty focused on restoring function for people with physical impairments or disabilities. PM&R physicians, called physiatrists, treat a wide range of conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

Mala Young MD completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, before doing her graduate medical education at Wayne State University in Detroit. She then spent a year in general surgery as an Intern at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard in Boston. She completed her PM&R training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan which is part of DMC. She spent the first decade of her career at St Joseph's hospital (now Trinity Health) before opening her private solo practice. In her free time, she loves having spontaneous dance parties with her family!
