About Us

Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R)—also known as physiatry—is a medical specialty focused on restoring function for people with physical impairments or disabilities. PM&R physicians, called physiatrists, treat a wide range of conditions that affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.

Non-surgical, non-opioid pain management. Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists help individuals regain function and live as independently as possible after illness or injury. PM&R bridges the gap between medicine and therapy, focusing on the whole person rather than just one system or symptom.

EMG Testing

With over a decade of experience serving the Ann Arbor community, Mala Young MD offers non-surgical, non-opioid pain management solutions in a brand new solo practice.

Find relief and renewed well-being through specialized treatments, including Botox injections for headaches, chronic neck pain, and clenching, joint injections, and trigger point injections. EMG testing is also available, providing comprehensive diagnostics to address your specific needs.

Dr. Young is dedicated to truly listening to her patients, collaborating with them to create personalized treatment plans that address their unique needs. She takes a comprehensive approach to care, focusing on the whole body while expertly identifying and treating the root causes of pain and discomfort. With Dr. Young, you’ll receive compassionate, thoughtful care that goes beyond the symptoms to restore your well-being.

Mala Young MD completed her undergraduate studies in Neuroscience at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, before doing her graduate medical education at Wayne State University in Detroit. She then spent a year in general surgery as an Intern at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center at Harvard in Boston. She completed her PM&R training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan which is part of DMC. She spent the first decade of her career at St Joseph's hospital (now Trinity Health) before opening her private solo practice. In her free time, she loves having spontaneous dance parties with her family!
